Universally acknowledged that Dai Vernon creates the ‘depth illusion’ concept but it remained unpublished and had no known applications.
Ed Marlo discovered the Tilt idea independently while experimenting with card insertions. Marlo credits Vernon as Vernon made his depth illusion known first, BUT Marlo should be credited with popularizing the move, not only due to the many fabulous applications (as found in his book TILT) but for giving the move its catchy name.
The Tilt insertion finesse mentioned is generally credited to Howie Schwarzman.
