PART ONE
Welcome to a three part series, possibly more parts… we shall see… I’m all about multiple parts!
Novelty bags are any egg bag that’s a little different from the standard classic egg bag. Usually these are bags that have a theme, like a Santa hat or a chefs hat or they have a special something, a secret tweak about them that makes them interesting. Or an idea that just falls flat.
There have been some terrific routines by Sam Berland, Tommy Windsor and Wildred Tyler that have allowed the egg bag to be expanded to more than just a quick trick. These egg bags usually have a lovely twist in design or technical feature that’s new and there are so many out there! I have managed to collect just a small portion of what has been available over the last hundred years.
Interestingly many were created by Supreme Magic Company alone, back in their heyday, and those are the hardest ones to find, although I have been able to track some down.
I was also able to track down a couple of extremely rare egg bags of which I’m very proud and happy to reveal to you, most of them are great ideas, but there's one egg bag that's just incredibly disappointing, and I'll show you that one too!
So let’s get going with part one.
I hope you enjoy this trip into the creative minds of our past magical thinkers, and I hope it triggers your creativity to not just rest on your laurels, but create something new fresh and original for yourself.
