We MAGI always look for something different, something to make a real impact. THIS IS IT.
Just when you thought we were doing with this topic...oh noooooo we're just getting started.
Welcome to the Real Work on the magnetic knives.
I've covered this basic method before within the Six Stick Suspensions video.
HOWEVER...
There's so much more to explore.
The knife trick goes back to 1911, at least, to Professor Hoffman's fabulous, underrated book 'Magical Titbits', where he explains the Carl Hartz routine, which incorporated the knives into as multiple suspension sequence.
Leipzig loved this, Malini would often saunter through the audience with the knives attached to his fingers, Herbert Milton created a fabulous sequence ending with the vanish of the knife and Charlie Miller truly made it his own, and you can seem perform it on the Magicana YouTube page here :

at about minute 3:43.
But it wasn't until I saw a performance of the maestro David Ben that it really hit me how goooood this can be. I won't be explaining David's sequence and structure, for that you'll need to go to his Penguin lecture, BUT the methods and techniques he uses all go back to Hoffman, it's just a real lesson in how the STRUCTURE of a trick makes all the difference. so go buy David's lecture from Penguin, it's packed with gems.
Having spent time with David going over the fine points and having spent a few years now playing with the knives and incorporating them into my own suspension sequence, I can safely say this is one of the best things I do, it's so powerful.
In fact, recently, Hobson saw a performance, and thought there was some extra something to the method, and he knows the knives! That's how fooling this can be when done right.
So with huge thanks to all those who came before, especially David Ben for the inspiration, it's time to delve into the knives -the classic techniques and of course some new ideas of my own.
Oh, and...
This is just the beginning, because this is the opener for the next two videos which will teach some brilliant extra knife techniques, all leading to my personal V-KNIFE routine.
