DOC DALEY'S CARDS UP THE SLEEVE - A THING OF BEAUTY

DOC DALEY'S CARDS UP THE SLEEVE - A THING OF BEAUTY

Wanna challenge?! This is worth it.

Doc Daley was a voice in magic that had respect from all the greats of his era, his magic cut through the clutter and his work permeates Magic On The Go because it’s still relevant today.

The Doc’s approach to the cards to pocket plot was unusual.

FIRST, he decided to send the cards in sequential order, making it easier to follow and giving the routine a natural build.

SECOND, he added his own brilliant sleights and variations and a special timing that made them invisible.

THIRD, he didn’t send them to the pocket, he only sent them up his sleeve! This meant the effect was clear and could be seen easily whether it was in close up or cabaret, as often the audience can’t see anything below the waist making any trick utilizing the trouser pockets pretty pointless.

The trick also has the fabulous bonus of keeping the FACE framed in the center of the action. Which makes it perfect for a ZOOM SHOW!

In this mini C2P study playlist I’ve taken the Doc Daley routine, smoothed out some rough spots, making some minor changes, and collected all the explanations of all the necessary moves into one place so it’s easy to.. well.. study. There’s also a wonderful performance from Eric DeCamps to inspire you.

It’s a really fun piece to perform, a bit like a runaway train, once it starts there’s no stopping!

Look at this if only to study the construction, there’s not a wasted move, or unnecessary moment, see how one action completely covers another.

It’s simply a thing of beauty.
I hope you enjoy it.
