SEPT UPDATES-2018

Hello! So I'm writing this while sitting in the dressing room of the Magic Castle Palace of Mystery. This week I've been performing a version of my one man show and it's been a blast, and very educational... I'll be discussing it with you when I get back to the studio next week.

I'll also have some footage of some interesting moments to share...

This month on MOTG we plan to continue with the great Cards Across investigation and a fantastic version with built in entertainment value. By the way I do want to let you know that these are always potential lists, sometimes things happen during filming that send us off on a different journey... so it's always flexible...

We will look at the second half of the Chocolate Box routine, one of my killer close up card routines with a finale where the deck vanishes IN THEIR HANDS.

We will look at classic magic scripts to see if any of the patter is still usable, or at least to analyze the structure of the routines of the greats.

I'll be teaching a sequence I call THE BOX, where you teach a spectator to read minds, it's a trick that slays the crowd and can be done for an audience of any size and finally my handling on the BENDING GLASS trick.

But we start the month with a fantastic trick from the great Dan Garret. Dan has allowed me to teach his FLABBERGHASTING CARD TO POCKET, actually he sent me video of HIM teaching it, everyone say THANKS DAN! It uses a palm/move I've already touched upon, so I'll put that right after Dan's brilliant trick.
cheers

  • PT 1 E.G. BROWN'S CARDS ACROSS

The great E.G. Brown had a revolutionary approach to Cards Across. or rather CARD Across. a single thought of card passes impossibly from packet to packet... and there's no palming :)

  • PT 2 E.G. BROWN'S CARDS ACROSS - VALENTINE VERSION

It had to happen, but Valentine's fiddling with Brown's masterpiece kicks it up to another level, TWO thought of cards vanish from one FACE OUT packet ONE AT A TIME and appear in the the packet held tightly by another spectator.
    This is powerful stuff.
    NO PALMING!

  • NOTES ON CARDS ACROSS - CHARLES HARRISON

In the early 20th century Charles Harrison was a vocal and much respected member of the The Magic Circle. He often published his methods. Back in 1935 Harrison detailed his technique for making Cards Across play big and strong. They are worth studying today.

Note that for Harrison, at least...
